Policies and Procedures

Professional Boundaries

This is a professional business environment that promotes positive wellness and healing. Only massage and bodywork services are offered at this massage practice.

Any comments, gestures, "jokes", innuendos, flirtatious remarks, threats or solicitations for a personal romantic or sexual relationship will result in termination of the session with full payment due. If the client's intention is to seek sexual arousal during a session, please do not book with this business.

While it may be a normal and healthy physiological response to experience attraction or arousal during a massage, a massage therapy session is not the space to explore those feelings with the therapist.

If a client finds it difficult to maintain a professional relationship with their therapist, it is suggested that they discuss what's coming up for them and how to navigate it with a separate trained professional like a psychotherapist, relationship coach, or a wise and trusted friend. They may find it most beneficial to find a new massage therapist with whom they can more easily access a personally healing and therapeutic experience without interpersonal distractions.

Please arrive free and clean of any lotion/crème/oil as they may interfere with the massage oils and cause excessive product build up. All equipment and linens that come in contact with the client will be cleansed in an approved method. All lubricants will be dispensed in a contamination-free manner.

Respect of Client Boundaries

Respect for client boundaries is very important. To maintain respect for each client and establish professional boundaries the following massage therapy policies apply:

Clients are asked to undress to their personal level of comfortability. Appropriate draping will be used with a sheet and/or towel at all times of the massage. Only areas of the body that are currently being treated will be exposed. The breast and genital region will always remain draped and never massaged. The therapy room door is never locked. The client may stop the massage at any time and is free to leave. The client may refuse any massage methods.

Feedback about the effectiveness of the work, situations that may have been uncomfortable for you, massage techniques that you enjoyed, massage techniques that you did not like, etc., are very important. Please feel free to share this information with me as you become aware of it.

Informed Consent

Prior to each massage session, the treatment plan will be discussed with you. At your first visit, you will receive a copy of the massage therapy policies and will be asked to sign the consent form stating that you have read the information, understand, and agree to comply with the professional massage therapy policies and procedures. You will also complete an intake and disclosure form. Clients who have not been seen in the least a year will also be asked to update their client profile. All records collected are stored in a double locked facility to efficiently safeguard client information.

It is the responsibility of the client to keep the massage therapist informed of any medical treatment currently being taken, and to provide written permission from the physician, chiropractor, physical therapist, etc., that the massage may be continued. The client must also keep the massage therapist informed of any changes in health conditions.

Appointments

All services are by appointment only. In order to request an appointment, clients must first complete the online contact form available here. When choosing a time, please be aware that you are scheduling an ARRIVAL time. This allows for plenty of time to conduct a consultation and intake form prior to the massage. Scheduling for an arrival time instead of a session time ensures that the client will receive the full service time uninterrupted.

Late Policy

If you are running late to your appointment, let me know as soon as possible so accommodations can be made. Please be aware that arriving more than 15 minutes late will reduce the time available for your massage service, the time left will be used to its best advantage. In order to receive the best experience, I would recommend rescheduling to another date or time.

Rescheduling & Cancellation Policy

I understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise and you may need to reschedule or cancel your appointment. If you need to reschedule, reach out as soon as possible so we can find the next available time. If you need to cancel your appointment, please notify me 24 hours before your scheduled service Clients who fail to show up for their scheduled appointment time will not be scheduled for future appointments.

Sickness Policy

The health and wellbeing of clients is my top priority. Both massage therapists and clients are vulnerable to infections and therefore I ask clients to cancel appointments when they are feeling unwell. If you have any of the following contagious illnesses the massage session will be rescheduled:

  • Diarrhea

  • Vomiting

  • Fever

  • COVID19, Influenza, Common Cold, other contagious illnesses

  • Chronic disease in exacerbation period

  • or Pregnant (some massage techniques are too risky depending on what stage of pregnancy)
